About You

You’ll work with our People team to align strategic business and people objectives across some of Chess.com’s largest teams. You’re an experienced Business Partner who takes pride in supporting the development of happy, healthy, high-performing team members. You’ve worked in tech or start-ups and understand how to build strategically and execute at scale, zooming in and out seamlessly. To be successful in this role, you’ll need to be an active member and deeply understand the nuances of the chess community and the unique opportunities and challenges presented to Chess.com.

What You’ll Do

• Deeply understand and actively contribute to Chess.com’s positive and global culture
• Act as the strategic partner for your assigned business groups, provide People solutions to address business issues through in-depth understanding of business objectives and operations
• Serve as advisor and sounding board for org leaders throughout the employee life-cycle
• Drive organizational development with functional leaders and align objectives to HR strategy for implementation
• Develop hiring plan and partner with Recruiting to source and grow the team with experienced, mission-aligned hires
• Collaborate with People Ops and PBP teams to carry out talent management activities such as goal setting, growth & development, compensation review, talent planning, etc
• As part of a rapidly growing organization, embrace the change and the shift of responsibilities over time
• Help build out the People Business Partner function at Chess.com, including internal communications, gaining leader trust and buy in, and influencing impact without direct authority
• Lead projects and programs to support making Chess.com a great place to work

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related majors
• 5-8+ years of experience as a HR Business Partner for technology and/or content marketing; start-up experience a plus
• Experience working with international teams; success in remote, a-sync environments a plus
• Possess strong logical thinking and data analysis ability
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Sense of ownership and responsibility
• Take an entrepreneurial approach to their work and learning new skills
• Avid chess player: Due to the unique nature of this need, this role will be best filled by someone who is integrated in and understands the chess community and culture, regardless of your rating.

• Ability to build trust and gain buy in, and influence across diverse people and teams
• Comfortable in ambiguity, ability to adapt to the dynamic needs of an evolving company

About the Opportunity

• This is a full-time position
• We are 100% remote (work from anywhere!)
