SALARY RANGE (EXEMPT): $ 70,000 to $80,000, dependent upon experience

POSITION SUMMARY:
The People & Culture (HR) Generalist is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day functions of People and Culture (P&C) operations. This position reports to and partners with the People and Culture Manager to gain a complete understanding of the strategies and initiatives of the department. This role will be responsible for executing a variety of P&C (HR) activities with a focus primarily on payroll administration, onboarding, benefits administration, employee relations, learning and development, and HRIS support. The People & Culture Specialist will also assist in executing the administration of programs, procedures, and policies of the organization.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
Talent Acquisition/Recruiting:
  • Assist with candidate dispositions and offer process.
  • Assist with development of standardized questions, screening interviews, and attending interviews as needed.
  • Manages communications with staffing agencies and temporary staffing processes (hires/termination)
  • Support employee onboarding processes, ensuring employees are set up to succeed from the moment of hire, which includes Paycor training to all new hires (mobile app usage, timecards, etc.).
  • Facilitate New Hire Orientation.
  • Support employee lifecycle events, including employee records maintenance, service awards and terminations (service award program maintenance & exit process ownership).
Payroll Administration and Analysis:
  • Manage bi-weekly payroll: Primary processing duties for payroll and timekeeping activities.
  • Ensure all deductions and earnings are correct for the pay period.
  • Enter all child support or credit garnishments in a timely manner.
  • Manually calculate Double Time worked for eligible employees and enter earnings information.
  • Submit weekly Lunch Punch reports to the Leadership Team.
  • Manage all unemployment claims in a timely manner.
  • Publish the recurring schedule templates for accurate attendance points calculation.
  • Tracks staffing analytics and trends, including turnover and requisition details, and headcount.
  • Updates weekly Whole Bean reporting tool with key metrics such as headcount, lunch punch penalties, open positions, and safety.
Benefits/Health & Welfare Administration:
  • Enroll new and existing employees (via open enrollment) in the various employer-provided benefit plans.
  • Help with employee inquiries regarding benefit plans.
  • Support leave administration and unemployment claims.
  • Support Director of P&C with communication with broker and benefits plan contacts, annual benefits renewal process/open enrollment activities.
Employee Relations:
  • Assist in designing, implementing, and administering People and Culture policies; support employees and managers with related questions, interpreting and explaining policies.
  • Partner with management to communicate new or reinforce policies, procedures, and programs. Advises managers and supervisors regarding appropriate resolution of employee relations issues.
  • Assists the managers and supervisors with the administration of annual performance reviews and compensation processes.
  • Supports training to managers and employees for HR systems, leadership development, compliance related topics, etc.
  • Participate on the company sponsored events committee, boosting employee morale through fun and engaging activities.
Safety Administration:
  • Work closely with Operations Leadership to promote and ensure a safe work environment through participation and guidance of Safety Committee.
  • Reports and manages Workers Compensation claims with carrier and provides managers with claim information regarding restrictions and return to work. Work closely with Archbright for reports of injury.
  • Tracks safety analytics monthly/quarterly/annually; tracks and reports OSHA & WA state data per federal/state requirements.
People and Culture Misc.:
  • Assists in market data research and compiling market trends.
  • Assists in administration and brainstorming for various People & Culture initiatives and events.
  • Continually seeks to improve processes and to refine methods of job performance.
  • Upholds and provides safe, high-quality, consistent products, and superior services that anticipate, meet, or exceed the requirements of our customers.
Performs other duties and tasks as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • 3-5 years’ experience in HR field with focus payroll, employee relations, health and welfare programs, recruiting, and compliance with federal and state programs (e.g., FMLA, state leave, workers compensation).
  • Human Resources or related degree preferred or equivalent experience.
  • HR Certification (PHR or SHRM) preferred.
  • Work well under pressure; meet critical monthly, quarterly and year end deadlines.
  • High degree of organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills required to efficiently accomplish work assignments.
  • Proficient in Microsoft products (e.g., Office 365, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and HRIS (e.g. Paycor).
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Good analytical and organizational skills needed to plan and implement assignments and to work through consistent interruptions.
  • Ability to address complex problems and propose viable solutions.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills required.
WORK ENVIROMENT AND EQUIPMENT:
  • This job is located within the corporate office, in an indoor environment.
  • This position may occasionally support work in the warehouse roasting facility that requires constant standing on concrete floors, exposed to loud equipment noise and subject to coffee dust strong odors.
  • Personal protection equipment and other Good Manufacturing Practices are mandatory.

  • Requires high degree of discretion regarding access to confidential data and will not disclose or divulge, either directly or indirectly, the confidential information to others unless authorized to do so.
  • Regular attendance and promptness are a requirement for this position.
  • This job requires a high degree of teamwork and managerial skills.
