Penetration Tester
What does a successful Cyber Threat Simiuator do at Fiserv?
As an Offensive Security Engineer, you will play a critical role in identifying and assessing vulnerabilities in our organization's IT systems and applications. Your primary responsibility will be to conduct ethical hacking tests to discover weaknesses that could be exploited by cyber attackers. You will work closely with the information security team to help improve our overall security posture by identifying and remediating vulnerabilities. In addition, you will be responsible for managing offensive security tools and computer systems, ensuring they are properly configured, maintained, and optimized. This role requires a strong technical skill set, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
What you will do:
Penetration Testing:
  • Plan and execute penetration tests on various IT assets, including networks, web applications, mobile applications, and infrastructure.
  • Identify and exploit vulnerabilities using ethical hacking techniques.
  • Document and report on findings, including detailed explanations of vulnerabilities, potential impacts, and recommended remediation steps.
  • Communicate findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Collaborate with IT and development teams to provide guidance on fixing identified vulnerabilities.
  • Verify that reported vulnerabilities have been remediated.

Research and Development:
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest security threats, vulnerabilities, and attack techniques.
  • Research and recommend security tools and best practices to enhance security measures.

Offensive Security Tools Management:
  • Install, configure, and maintain servers, both physical and virtual.
  • Perform regular updates, patches, and backups to ensure data integrity and security.
  • Troubleshoot server issues and coordinate with vendors for hardware and software support.
  • Work closely with other IT team members and departments to support technology-related projects and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with external vendors and service providers.

What you will need to have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 4 years' Experience as a System Administrator or in a Similar Role.
  • Proficiency in IT Automation (e.g., Ansible, Terraform, Salt).
  • Proficiency in scripting and programming languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell).
  • Strong knowledge of operating systems (e.g., Windows Server, Linux, Kali) and virtualization technologies.
  • Knowledge of containerized application deployment (e.g. Docker).
  • Knowledge of penetration testing methodologies, tools, and frameworks .
  • Knowledge of network topology and complementing security controls (Firewall, IDS/IPS, WAF, NDR, EDR, etc) .
  • Knowledge of PCI and other industry compliance standards.
  • Knowledge of cyber attack stages, cyber threats and vulnerabilities, intrusion sets.
  • Experience with scripting and editing existing code and programming, including Python, Bash, C, C++, .NET, or Java.
  • Knowledge of network vulnerability assessments, Web application security testing, network penetration testing, red teaming, security operations, or hunt operations.
  • Certification in offensive security areas (e.g., CEH, GPEN, CEPT, LPT, OSCP, or OSCE) and/or Systems Administration areas (e.g., CompTIA Network+, MCSA, CCNA) is preferred.
