Summary: This is an entry level position with two years of work experience with individuals who have severe or persistent chemical dependency, developmental disabilities, mental illness or equivalent related experience. Required to have consumer experience in Behavioral Health system. Performs general duties within established guidelines. Provides routine client case management services, program support services and related supportive, community-based services to youth and young adults ages 15-25 who meet criteria for the EASA program. Under EASA, The Peer Support Specialist is responsible for working in collaboration with individuals, their families, and community supports to identify strengths and barriers within that system.

EASA Peer SUPPORT SPECIALIST
Job Summary: The Peer Support Specialist provides supportive, community-based services to youth and young adults ages 15-25 who meet criteria for the EASA program. The Peer Support Specialist is responsible for providing direct support and skills training to individuals experiencing psychosis. The Peer Support Specialist is responsible for working in collaboration with individuals, their families, and community supports to identify strengths and barriers within that system. The Peer Support Specialist utilizes a strengths-based approach that focuses on evidenced-based early intervention strategies.
Essential Job Functions: The Peer Support Specialist works as part of a transdisciplinary team and provides outreach, education and support for clients enrolled in the EASA Program. The Peer Support Specialist also participates in weekly case review meetings, collaborative treatment planning, educates clients about self-care and habits that can impact health, coordinates client transportation and accompaniment as needed to scheduled appointments, assists clients in building social skills and self-advocacy, and utilizes and teaches problem-solving techniques to individuals and groups. Deliver services that address diverse social, cultural, gender, and economic needs of population served utilizing equity lens. The Peer Support Specialist participates in quarterly education workshops as well as community education and outreach. The Peer Support Specialist adheres to EASA practice guidelines regarding training and certification and documents all services a timely manner according to agency policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
• Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.
• Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Bilingual/multilingual a plus
• Ability to operate computers, copy machine, faxes, and scanner.
Minimum Requirements:
• Education and/or Experience: Any combination of education and work experience equivalent to a high school diploma and two years of work with people with severe or persistent mental illness or two years of college.
• CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid driver's license. Appropriate state licensure.
• Must pass a drug test and criminal background check
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Bachelor's degree in related field preferred
• Lived experience in mental and/or behavioral health care
• Experience working with healthcare communities and diverse adolescent and young adults preferred
• Peer Support Specialist training preferred
CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECKS
Must pass all criminal history check requirements as required by ORS 181.536-181.537 and in accordance with OAR 410-007-0200 through 410-007-0380.
In addition to a pre-employment background check, each employee, volunteer and contractor shall be checked on a monthly basis against the OIG and GSA exclusion lists, as well as other federal and state agency lists. If it is discovered that an employee, volunteer or contractor is excluded or sanctioned it will be the cause for immediate termination of employment, volunteering, or the termination of the contract.
PERSONAL AUTO INSURANCE
Must hold a valid driver's license as well as personal auto insurance for privately owned Vehicles utilized for CCS business such as client service purposes, travel between business offices and the community, to attend required meetings and trainings.
Must show proof of $300,000 or more liability coverage for bodily injury and $100,000 or more liability coverage for property damage and maintain said level of coverage for the duration of employment at CCS.
The employee's insurance is primary with CCS insurance being secondary. CCS reserves the right to deny any employee the use of a vehicle owned by CCS.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use office automation including computer and phone system that requires fine manipulation, grasping, typing, and reaching. Sitting for several hours reviewing reports and other written materials, and talking on phone. This position may occasionally be required to lift up to ten (10) pounds. Incumbent will occasionally have to reach, bend, kneel and squat when adjusting equipment or retrieving supplies.
The employee needs to be able participate in vehicle travel between business offices, client homes, in the community, and to attend required meetings and/or trainings.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in an office environment and in many community settings such as schools, client homes, hospitals, jails, other public agencies and community groups in a variety of locations. The noise level is usually moderate, but occasionally may be exposed to loud noise such as raised voice levels and alarms.
This position is exposed to the everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as an office (i.e., moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, and electrical shock).
