Open Door Health Services is a one stop shop, community health center providing primary care for adults and children, dental, family planning, WIC, and behavioral health services. Our main location is in the heart of downtown Muncie, with satellite sites located throughout East Central Indiana.

As a Nurse Practitioner you will uphold our Mission, Vision, and Values. NP will provide primary care to patients acting as physician extender in the clinic following established standards, practices, and protocols.

Obtains complete medical history and physical data on patients.
Performs a complete physical exam and assessment and record finding.
Makes independent provider judgements, collaborating with physicians in managing acute and long-term medical needs of patients, as appropriate.
Remains current in advanced practice changes within specialized area, and where relevant, translate these findings into clinical practice.

Interprets and integrates data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as needed.
Synthesizes data to determine preliminary diagnostic and therapeutic plan utilizing principles of prevention.

Instructs patient and family regarding medications and treatment instructions.

Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care.
Ability to read, understand, and follow detailed written and oral communication.
Knowledge of and skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods and techniques of professional nursing to provide ongoing patient care.
Skill in taking medical history to assess medical condition and interpret findings.
Skill in developing and maintaining departmental quality assurance and quality control standards.
Ability to communicate clearly.
Skill in establishing and maintaining departmental quality assurance and quality control standards.

Requires standing, walking or sitting for long periods of time. Occasional bending, stretching or lifting up to 40 pounds.

All Nurse Practitioners must have written collaborative agreement with a licensed physician according to the requirements of the Indiana State Board of Nursing.
Typical Working Environment: Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substance, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to clinic environment. Tasks involve contact with blood or body substances.
Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. BSN required. Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program, testing, and certification.
Experience: Three years of professional nursing experience in a clinic setting preferred.
Certificate/License:
Possession of an Indiana State Registered Nurse license.
Possession of Indiana State Nurse Practitioner Authorization license.
DEA certification.
CSR registration.
CPR & First Aid Certification,
