Primary Care Medical Assistant
Position Summary:
The PCP Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting providers with office visits and provide skilled nursing services as scheduled and document information in the organizations EMR. This position will play a vital role in patient quality care.
Job Responsibilities:
- Maintain total confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA law, CARF accreditation standards and Maryland State Regulations.
- Using the electronic medical records (EMR), input data and following through seeing services to their completion.
- Complete all regulatory documentation of client treatment and share information in a timely manner with other professionals working with client, both with the staff and, with client permission, outside agencies.
- Escort patients to exam rooms, interviews patients, measure vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and document all information in patient’s EMR.
- Disinfects, cleans treatment rooms following patient examinations; Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment.
- Keep exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintain instruments, prepare sterilization as required; Properly disposes of contaminated supplies
- Take telephone messages and provide feedback and answers to patient/physician/pharmacy calls
- Collaborate with rehabilitation/treatment plans and staff in serving the client’s needs.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications, Educations and Experience:
- Credentials as a Certified Medical Assistant authorized under Health Occupations Article, Annotated Code of Maryland, with current license. Two years of experience preferred.
- Highly developed organizational and communication skills.
- Availability for work including some evenings as needed.
- Current CPR and First Aid certified.
- Privileged to carry out all duties, including client treatment coordination.
- Ability to partner with colleagues and peers to meet agency mission and healthcare needs of populations served.
