Monday-Friday 8:30a-4:30pm required. Full-time position.
This opening is for an immediate-hire, full-time, on-site Medical Assistant who is fluent in both English and Spanish.
POSITION DESCRIPTION/PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Escort patients to and from the exam room and complete the patient intake according to protocol
- Blood draw (willing to train).
- Clean and straighten exam room between patients
- Prepare syringes and administer subcutaneous and intra-muscular injections as directed by the physician
- Assist provider with injectable procedures
- Set-up, clean, sterilize and inventory all medical equipment and instruments, including procedure trays
- Communicate with patients in either English or Spanish
- Prepare pathology and lab specimens and route them to the correct lab as required by the patient’s insurance
- Notify providers and patients of pathology and lab results
- Respond to patient questions in office and via phone as instructed by the physician
- Work in compliance with OSHA, blood borne pathogen standards
- Knowledge of and compliance with HIPAA standards
- Maintain medication samples, discard out-of-date supplies
- Document all medical instructions given to patients
- Prepare and fill liquid nitrogen canister
- Trains other employees on Medical Assistant duties as required by the practice
- Performs light janitorial duty including but not limited to, cleaning exam rooms in between patients
- Perform additional duties as required
POSITION REQUIREMENT QUALIFICATIONS
License: Licensed medical professional preferred (CMA, CNA CPT OR completion of a bachelor's degree program in a pre-med or pre-PA track (required)).
Personal Characteristics: Pleasant, outgoing, and mature. Good communication and time management skills. Attention to detail. Self-discipline. Diligence and persistence.
Interpersonal Communications Skills: Must have the ability to establish a good working rapport with study patients, physicians, investigators, referring physicians, research staff, and the clinic. Must exhibit accurate, complete, legible, and timely use of communication methods, both hand-written and verbal. Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept direction on given assignments
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Work is performed in a medical office setting.
- Physical demands of position: must be able to sit for long periods, must have the manual dexterity to work on computer systems and keyboard.
- Must be able to have a face-to-face conversation with patients and staff.
- Must be able to lift 10 pounds.
