Position Summary:
This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of Saddleback Memorial Medical Center. It is expected that the employee demonstrate behavior consistent with the core values. The employee shall support Saddleback Memorial Medical Center's strategic plan and the goals and direction of the performance improvement plan.
The Physician's Exchange Operator is responsible for answering calls for physicians who are clients of the exchange service as well as taking messages for and delivering messages to the appropriate physician and or office of the physician. The Physician's Exchange Operator will use the Startel computerized phone system in performing exchange duties.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job

1. Provides appropriate services to physicians, patients, and staff to ensure all phone calls are routed properly and efficiently.
2. Demonstrates appropriate level of expertise in the Startel system, Telecom equipment and EPIC to maintain seamless workflow throughout various systems.
3. Delivers excellent customer service to ensure all patient, physician, and staff needs are addressed timely and effectively.
4. Actively supports department specific performance improvement activities, to establish continued enhancement of services provided by the PBX department.

Qualifications
Experience
• Strong verbal communication and Customer service skills
• Ability to work in dynamic healthcare setting
• Previous Physician's Exchange or answering service experience desired
• Basic typing and/or computer skills
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) desirable
Education
• High School Graduate or GED certificate preferred
