Job description

Surack Enterprises is seeking a Payroll & Benefits Administrator to lead those functions as well as provide support for certain Accounting and HR responsibilities.

In this role, you'll be responsible for administering all day to day routine duties related to payroll and benefits, including processing biweekly payroll, assisting employees with benefits enrollment, responding to employee questions, maintaining employee files and time records, and assisting with ensuring legal and regulatory compliance.

Key Duties/Responsibilities:

Payroll:

· Enter, maintain, and/or process information in the payroll system; including employees’ hourly rates, salaries, commissions, bonuses or other compensation, time worked, paid leave and holidays, deductions and withholding, address changes, and other information

· Ensure proper processing of payroll deductions for taxes, benefits, and other deductions

· Reconcile payroll to the general ledger and monthly bank statements

· Issue, or reissue, physical or replacement checks or direct deposits as needed

· Records and processes federal and state payroll tax deposits

· Maintains/builds knowledge to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll and wage and hour laws. Recommends best practices utilizing available resources, research, and continuing education as appropriate

Benefits:

· Administer various employee benefits programs, such as group health, flexible spending accounts, dental and vision, accident and disability, life insurance, 401(k), and wellness

· Maintain employee benefits filing systems and ensure benefits changes are entered appropriately in payroll system for payroll deduction and transmitted to carriers

· Assist employees with routine health, dental, life and other related benefit claims and questions

· Verify the calculation of the monthly premium statements for all group insurance policies and maintain statistical data relative to premiums, claims and costs. Resolve administrative problems with the carrier representatives

· Administer COBRA

· Direct and assist employees with benefits self-enrollment system

· Prepare and set up meetings designed to help employees obtain information and understand company benefits and other related incentive programs. Ensure distribution of required employee notices

· Prepare and maintain reports as needed/requested. Maintain and update company information such as phone directory, employee photos, etc.

· Assist in completing benefits reporting requirements

Other:

· May assist with other financial/accounting related duties, reports, or analysis as requested

· May assist with other HR related tasks such as onboarding new employees, assisting in recruiting processes, etc.

· Other duties as assigned

Education/Experience, Skills & Abilities:

· High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field preferred

· Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping with at least 1 year of experience in payroll processing preferred

· Minimum 1-2 years of benefits administration experience preferred

· High degree of professionalism and ability to maintain confidentiality

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Excellent organizational and time management skills; displays appropriate sense of urgency in responding to employee questions and needs

· Strong attention to detail

· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

· Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn payroll software

· Must be flexible and adaptable with ability to function well in a fast paced and rapidly changing environment
