Waggoner Engineering, Inc. is hiring a talented Payroll Manager with a strong level of experience overseeing and supervising the organization’s payroll functions, ensuring pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations.

Your Primary Responsibilities will include
  • Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
  • Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
  • Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.
  • Partners closely with HR function to ensure successful validations and reconciliations.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
  • Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
  • Identifies and recommends updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures.
  • Providing support and instruction to employees in various Payroll-related topics and resolving any issues that may arise.
  • Support the 401K audit.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


What you'll need
  • Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills; detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy while multi-tasking
  • Advanced Microsoft (MS) Excel skills, strong MS Office skills, experience with federal customer technologies and ability to quickly upskill on new technologies.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills to interface with all levels of management.
  • High level of discretion and confidentiality.
  • Creative approach to problem solving in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
  • Ability and willingness to work under compressed and aggressive delivery schedule

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field preferred.
  • Seven to ten years of related experience required.
  • Proficient with payroll software, ADP preferred
  • Experience in AEC industry preferred
  • Experience with Deltek is preferred.
  • Strong excel skills.
  • CPP or FPC or open to acquiring CPP or FPC
