Alliance Water Resources is a growing water and wastewater contract operations company with a Payroll and Benefits Administrator opening at our Columbia, MO location.
About the Job
This position performs administrative office work to support the Human Resources and Accounting Departments with an emphasis on ensuring payrolls and employee benefits are processed and administered accurately and timely. This employee resolves problems according to established guidelines and is expected to perform work with minimal supervision, exercising sound judgment and referring unusual problems to the Human Resources Manager.
Job Requirements:
Graduation from high school and three years of payroll, benefits, human resource or other related administrative office experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience which would provide the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • Knowledge of human resources practices and employment law.
  • Knowledge of standard office practices and procedures, and equipment.
  • Strong computer/analytical skills. Ability to comprehend HRIS/UKG platform.

Essential Functions:
This list is not comprehensive, but indicates duties and responsibilities which may be redefined pursuant to operational needs:
  • Reviews, analyzes and processes the in-house payroll including: inputting payroll changes and timesheets; generating and distributing payroll advices, checks and related reports; researching and resolving payroll issues and concerns; and responding to employee questions and requests.
  • Processes and tracks garnishments.
  • Coordinates benefits documentation including: distributing benefit-related information and documentation to employees, insurance carriers and/or broker; reviewing and processing benefit enrollment and changes, entering into payroll system; researching and resolving benefit concerns; verifying monthly benefit invoices; coding and tracking COBRA payments; and generating benefits-related reports.
  • Assists the company's 401(k) plan administrator by preparing biweekly contributions, loan repayment and other files and submitting approved data files to the plan sponsor.
  • Establishes and maintains confidential human resources files.
  • Maintains the integrity of the HR data within UKG Workforce Ready.
  • Calculates quarterly employee personal mileage earnings from mileage logs.
  • Prepares federal and state payroll tax returns and payments.
  • Prepares and issues W-2's and 1095's accurately and timely.
  • Assists in the calculation of payroll-related journal entries.
  • Assists in preparing and issuing W-2's accurately and timely.
  • Assists the accounting department in the calculation of payroll-related journal entries.
  • Types and reviews for accuracy correspondence, form letters and reports.
  • Receives and sorts departmental mail.
  • Cross trains in related positions as needed.
  • Performs related duties as needed or assigned.

Hours & Pay
  • Shift - Monday-Friday, 7:30A-4:00P. Starting pay $24-$26/hour (DOQ)

Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities-Minimum Qualifications:
  • Ability to read and write
  • Knowledge of standard office practices and procedures, and equipment.
  • Knowledge of grammar, punctuation, spelling, syntax, and basic mathematics.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to maintain moderately complex records and ensure confidentiality.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with co-workers, managers, employees, and the general public.
  • Knowledge of MS Office and other applicable business software.
  • Possess or the ability to possess a valid state driver's license.
  • A person working in this job will need, on a daily basis, to:
    • Operate general office equipment including, but not limited to, personal computer, fax machine, copier and scanner
    • Read instructions, job orders, etc., complete forms and write notices
    • Perform work that is primarily of a sedentary nature in an office setting
    • Interact with employees and the general public
