D.A. Wood Construction, Inc. is a leading provider of underground wet utilities construction/engineering services in the Central Valley. We specialize in the installation of water, sewer, and storm drainage systems for commercial and municipal projects. We are currently seeking a Payroll and Accounts Payable Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for processing Payroll and Accounts Payable transactions accurately and efficiently. This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Process weekly payroll for hourly and salaried employees (40-50).
- Calculate and input employee hours, and deductions.
- Review timesheets for accuracy and compliance with company policies.
- Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Prepare and issue Certified Payroll for public works contracts.
- Process Accounts Payable invoices in a timely manner.
- Verify and reconcile vendor invoices with purchase orders and receipts.
- Prepare and process payments to vendors.
- Resolve discrepancies and issues related to Payroll and Accounts Payable.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes as needed.
- Request, reconcile, and track contractor and supplier pre-lien notices.
- Answer phone calls and route to the correct department (low volume).
Requirements:
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred; however, equivalent experience is welcomed as well.
- 3+ years of experience in Payroll and Accounts Payable processing preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Word
- Experience with Payroll and accounting software (Sage 100 experience preferred.)
- Strong understanding of union / municipal payroll regulations & Accounts Payable processes. Certified payroll experience preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
