Job Summary:
The Payroll Analyst is responsible for efficiently processing payroll, maintaining accurate employee time records, and handling various payroll related tasks. This position plays a crucial role in resolving internal and external payroll inquires and ensuring compliance with applicable payroll, wage and hour laws and best practices.
Essential Job Functions:
- Process bi-weekly payroll and maintain employee time records.
- Efficiently process direct deposit authorization forms and employee changes.
- Set up Federal and State tax changes and diligently monitor exemptions.
- Expertly process state wage attachments, garnishments, and child support orders.
- Resolve internal and external payroll inquiries promptly and professionally.
- Ensures meticulous compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
- Prepare Time and Attendance reporting, resolve exceptions, missed punches, unapproved timecards and resolve attendance balance and scheduling issues.
- Maintain and promptly respond to inquiries from multiple email inboxes.
- Prepare ad-hoc reports and assist with running reports as needed.
- Creating dashboards and utilizing metrics within Analytics module
- Collaborate in the preparation of payroll system policies and procedures.
- Thoroughly prepare required documentation for audits as assigned.
- Participate in the year-end process by completing assigned tasks and duties.
- Performs other duties as needed.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Payroll Systems: ADP WorkForce Now or other ADP products and services – preferred.
- Analytics: Ability to validate and perform data analysis on reports as well as explain report findings to users.
- Quality control: Extremely well organized, detail oriented and willing to comply fully with the processes and policies of the company.
- Customer Service: Must be able to manage difficult client/customer situations, respond promptly to customer needs, respond to requests for service and assist and meet commitments.
- Planning/organizing: Must be able to prioritize, plan work activities and use time efficiently.
- Initiative: Must be able to work well independently or within a small team environment to accomplish all tasks, improve department processes and complete special projects.
- Computer Skills: Basic knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and Excel is required; Knowledge of advanced Excel functions such as pivot tables and VLOOKUP is a plus.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or a related field is a plus.
- 3-5 years of experience in multi-state payroll processing preferred.
- FPC or CPP Certification is preferred.
Travel:
- Ability to travel, while not frequent, must be an option.
