Payroll Administrator

Position Overview
Gemma Power Systems is seeking a Payroll Administrator to join our home office team in Glastonbury, CT! We are looking for an experienced individual to administer the processing of Gemma’s payroll and collect payroll data in order to maintain accurate financial records.
Position Description:
The Payroll Administrator is integral to the Gemma Finance team. The ideal candidate must be highly organized, self-driven and committed to delivering a high-quality work product under regimented time constraints. They should also be focused on administering Gemma’s payroll program in an efficient and organized manner. The Payroll Administrator will report to the Payroll Manager and work closely with the rest of the payroll team.
Primary Roles and Responsibilities:
- Prepare various weekly payrolls & payroll packages.
- Conduct audits on payroll information for accuracy.
- Reconcile payroll deposits, tax withholdings, wage garnishments, and voluntary deductions.
- Participate in problem solving & special projects within the Payroll Department.
- Direct computation of differential pay according to company policy.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all laws & regulations relating to payroll.
- Process wage garnishments & child support orders.
- Create & upload payroll import files.
- Perform initial home office review of project payrolls & payroll packages.
- Produce various reports for all project payroll codes.
- Prepare union reporting packages and administer filing of union reports.
- Responsible for payroll notice administration and/or response for project company codes.
- Responsible for check distribution administration.
- Exist as the back-up point of contact for project phone calls on payroll matters.
- Perform monthly reconciliation of project PTO balances.
- Assist in continued coordination with ADP.
- Perform quarterly reconciliation of time records between financial & payroll records.
- Document process manuals for all functions.
- Responsible for processing employee status changes, analyzing payroll & employee expenses, and assures general ledger accounts are reconciled.
- Other tasks as deemed necessary.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, HR, or related field is preferred.
- 2-4 years of relevant experience is desired.
- Firm knowledge of accounting, payroll, HR and/or business management.
- Detailed working knowledge of Microsoft O365 suite of products, especially Microsoft Excel.
- Strong verbal & written communication skills, as well as organizational & interpersonal skills.
- Can manage time & priorities effectively and possesses formidable problem-solving skills.
- High level of attention to detail and a commitment to quality is required.
- Ability to work under pressure on multiple deliverables.
- Experience working with ADP Workforce Now is a plus.
