As a Payment Posting Specialist you will be responsible for accurately posting and reconciling payments received from patients, insurance companies, and other third-party payers for treatment services. This role is critical in ensuring that payments are correctly applied to patient accounts, and that any discrepancies or errors are identified and corrected in a timely manner. To perform this job effectively, a Payment Posting Specialist should have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as a keen attention to detail. You should be comfortable working with numbers and financial data, and have a good understanding of medical billing and coding practices. Essential Functions:
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• 3+ years of experience working with healthcare systems, experience in substance use is recommended
Competencies - Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally.
• Demonstrated customer service skills and ability to interact with staff and clients in a professional manner.
• Demonstrated adherence to acceptable ethical and behavioral standards of conduct.

• Ability to supervise staff nurses and direct the nursing function of a detox facility.
• Experience in posting insurance and patient payments, cash applications, cash posting, posting check and credit card payments, Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT), Electronic Remittance Advice (ERA)
• Automated Clearing House (ACH) and lockbox payments
• Understanding of complexity around line level payment posting
• Knowledge of HCFA 1500 and UB04
• Familiarity with insurance plans and EOBs
• KIPU Experience preferred
• CollaborateMD Experience preferred
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask

Essential Functions:
- Accurately posting payments received from patients, insurance companies, and other third-party payers to patient accounts.
- Reconciling payments to ensure that all amounts received match expected amounts.
- Investigating and resolving discrepancies or errors in payment postings.
- Monitoring patient accounts for overdue balances and following up with patients collections team for collection.
- Communicating with insurance companies and other payers to resolve payment-related issues.
- Collaborating with billing and collections staff to ensure accurate and timely billing and collections processes such as secondary billing.
- Maintaining accurate records of payment transactions and related information.
- Providing reports to management on payment-related metrics, such as payment posting accuracy and outstanding balances.
- Assistance in AR collections with insurance company as needed. Positively promotes current organization to prospective clients and employees.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
