STARTING PAY: $20.90/hourly, increases to $21.17/hourly after 90 days. Increases with Newton County Years of Service.
Newton County Sheriff's Office is a law enforcement agency in Neosho, MO. We are demanding, fast-paced, hard working and our goal is to provide professional police services to the citizens of Newton County.

We are currently seeking Deputy Sheriffs to serve the public. The successful candidates must be motivated individuals who are committed to working as part of a team and making decisions quickly and accurately. Deputy Sheriffs work closely with other law enforcement officials to ensure that our community remains a safe place. This is a challenging career, but also an extremely rewarding one, so we are looking for individuals who can perform these tasks with a positive attitude. Deputy Sheriffs maintain law and order and serve legal process of the courts by performing duties, including but not limited to; processing citizen complaints, documenting and writing reports on law violations, transporting prisoners, service of civil process, and overall general law enforcement in the county.

Responsibilities:
- Respond to calls for service
- Write reports
- Achieve and maintain a high level of physical fitness.
- Be skilled in the use of weapons and physical tactics.
- Be available for call out situations
- Handle stressful situations calmly and effectively while remaining professional at all times.
Requirements for applicants:
- Be at least 21 years of age
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and reside in the State of Missouri
- Must possess high school diploma or GED
- Must possess current Missouri P.O.S.T. certification or equivalent from another state
- Must be able to work rotating 12-hour shifts
- Must meet vision, hearing and physical agility standards (WorkSTEPS®)
- Must possess a valid Missouri driver's license
- Be able to pass a reference and background investigation
- Be able to relocate within Newton County in a reasonable amount of time, as determined by the Sheriff
- All probationary deputies must successfully pass NCSO field training program
- Residing in Newton County is preferred but not required
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.90 - $21.17 per hour
Expected hours: 24 – 60 per week
