POSITION SUMMARY:
The Patient Sitter is responsible for providing 1:1 monitoring with continuous visual observation (either in person or on a video monitor) with the patient. The Patient Sitter functions under the supervision of a first line supervisor and performs delegated functions. The primarily responsibility of this position is to remain with the patient and assure his/her safety. This includes monitoring patients in person or remotely who are "High Risk for Falls" and/or risk of injury to self or others. The focus of the role is to observe for change(s) in patient condition and notify nursing staff when appropriate.
WORK SCHEDULE:
• May include 8-12 hours per day with weekend coverage based on individual unit needs.
• Personnel are expected to cover for absences by rotating or working extra shifts.
• Personnel are assigned to one area upon employment, but may be required to assume assignments in other areas to meet patient needs.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be 18 years or older.
Experience:
• Previous hospital/patient care experience preferred.
Licensure/Certification:
• BLS certified. If not BLS certified, must obtain BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
