We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Patient Services Coordinator to join our team at the American Autism & Rehabilitation Center. This pivotal front desk role serves as the first point of contact for our patients and their families, ensuring a smooth and supportive healthcare experience from the moment they step into our facility. The ideal candidate will possess a unique blend of administrative skills, healthcare knowledge, and exceptional customer service ability to efficiently manage day-to-day operations and foster a welcoming, supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Communication and Support: Serve as the first point of contact for patients and visitors, both in-person and over the phone. Provide compassionate support, guiding patients through our services and policies.
- Insurance and Billing: Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, and copays. Process copayments and handle billing inquiries, ensuring patients understand their financial responsibilities.
- Scheduling and Coordination: Schedule appointments for new patients and manage schedule changes for existing patients. Coordinate with medical staff and other facilities to ensure timely and efficient patient care.
- Medical Records and Referrals: Communicate with other medical facilities to manage referrals and medical record transfers, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Customer Service and Problem Solving: Address patient concerns and inquiries with empathy and professionalism. Resolve issues effectively, demonstrating problem-solving skills and a patient-centric approach.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with medical and administrative staff to ensure seamless operations and high-quality patient care. Share insights and collaborate on improving patient experience and operational efficiency.
- Experience: Proven experience working at the front desk of a medical facility is required. Familiarity with the healthcare industry, including insurance processes and medical billing, is preferred.
Skills: Excellent communication and customer service skills are essential. The candidate must be able to handle sensitive situations with compassion and professionalism. Strong organizational and multitasking abilities are required.
Characteristics: We are looking for a problem solver who is compassionate and can maintain professionalism with all types of customers, including those who may be rude or demanding. The ability to work collaboratively within a team and independently is crucial.
Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Additional certification or training in healthcare administration or related fields is a plus.
