SUMMARY
The REGISTRATION REPRESENTATIVE is responsible for greeting patients, giving directions and instructions, providing information, scheduling appointments, and communicating with staff. They will serve as a liaison between patients and medical support staff, showing love, integrity, and excellence in all interactions with patients and co-workers.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current Hepatitis B vaccine, flu vaccine, and negative TB test
- Knowledge of front office procedures
- Team oriented with excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of grammar, spelling, and some medical terminology
- Skill in operating a computer, copier, multi-line phone system, and calculator
- Skill in greeting patients and answering the phone in a pleasant and helpful manner
- Knowledge of accounts receivable practices and medical business office procedures
- Knowledge of coding procedures
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients and co-workers
- Ability to perform work which requires full range of body motion, sitting and/or standing for long periods of time with varied activities, such as sitting, walking stooping, lifting, bending and reaching
- Manual dexterity sufficient to operate keyboard and necessary office equipment
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and view and type on the computer for long periods
- Ability to perform work which may be stressful at times due to work load, constant interruptions, emergency situations and upset patients
- Ability to work night and weekend hours if scheduled
- Ability to work in an environment with frequent exposure to communicable disease, toxic substances, medical preparations and other conditions common to a clinical environment
DUTIES
- Greet and register patients in a polite, prompt, and helpful manner
- Provides any necessary instructions/directions
- Check in patient, verifies and update patient information in the computer
- Provides any necessary forms needing completion, obtains signatures as needed
- Inform appropriate department/persons of patient’s arrival
- Maintain appointment schedule and follows office scheduling policies
- Oversee and maintain clean,orderly waiting area, including reading materials, reports problems or irregularities
- Maintains clean work area
- Answer phone in a pleasant manner, screens calls and takes messages, provides information and deals with patient needs expeditiously
- Follow checkout procedures in a courteous and helpful manner
- Collect copays and payments and balances daily work
- Duplicate documents and forms as directed
- Maintain patient confidentiality
- Substitute for other personnel in a backup role when necessary for prompt attention of patients’ needs
- Attend meetings as required
- May be required to perform other duties as directed by management

Pay: $14.50 - $19.00 per hour
