Position is located in a busy and expanding pulmonary practice in Encinitas, CA. Performs work from a central office working with patients, physicians, allied health providers and medical office staff. Work is typically performed during normal business hours.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Greet everyone professionally both in person and on the phone
- Check in and out patients
- Scheduling
- Verify insurance eligibility
- Answer phones / return voicemails
- Incoming and outgoing faxes, photocopies, general mail duties
- Maintain excellent relations with referring offices, patients, insurances, etc.
- Maintain clear documentation in patient’s charts
- Assist providers with all aspects of patient care
- Registration for new patients
- Ensure patients have follow up instructions
- Obtain preauthorization for all in-office visits / procedures
- Obtain preauthorization for all outgoing referrals
Qualifications and Experience
- One year medical office experience
- High School Education
- Self-directed, organized and problem solver
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
- Experience with EHR
- Experience with data entry and insurance verification
- Knowledge of medical terminology, referral procedures, and health insurance plans
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Understanding of a medical office setting and HIPAA requirements
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $21.00 - $24.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
