Job Title:Safety Monitor
Reports To:Nurse Director, House Supervisor
Job Summary:
The Safety Monitor is to assist the nurse with keeping the patient safe.
Job Responsibilities:
- Follow all Cayuga Medical Center safety guidelines and keep your area safe and free from clutter
- Be sensitive to issues of private space and personal dignity and when entering a room introduce yourself by name and position, address people by name when possible and appropriate
- Take all steps to protect patient confidentiality, being careful not to discuss patient with others unless they have a need and right to know
- Always treat people with courtesy, as rude or inappropriate behavior is never acceptable
- Wear a name badge at all times, make sure your appearance is appropriate for your role. Refrain from using cologne, perfume or aftershave
- Obtain verbal report from the patient's nurse including diagnosis, patient care needs as well as any special considerations
- Position self in patient room or outside door to maintain constant visual observation. Never leave patients alone unless instructed by patients nurse. The assigned patient remains the Safety Monitor's primary responsibility at all times
- Obtain instructions from patients nurse regarding safe ambulation and course of action for redirection of patient if needed
Requirements
Education: High School Diploma or GED
Experience: Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication
