Overview

Position Summary

This position is responsible for contributing to the patient care team in the promotion of Patient Safety. Supports a work environment that promotes safety for patients, staff, and customers. Reports safety concerns or defective equipment. Maintains awareness of safety at all times. Provides continuous observation of assigned patients to promote safety and prevention of injury. Maintains continuous observation as needed, either personally or by safely transferring observation to another team member. Collects and reports data about the patient/family as directed by the registered nurse. Remains alert for, and reports, changes related to patient's safety. Promptly calls for assistance as needed. Documents observations in an appropriate and timely manner. Maintains continuous observation if needed by accompanying the patient to other areas of the facility for testing or treatment. Follows isolation procedures according to the Infection Control policy. Adheres to unit/system policies and procedures.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Must have the ability to sit for long periods of time while remaining awake, alert and observant.
  • Must have the ability to walk for periods of time.
  • Must have the ability to respond and react immediately with unimpeded auditory perception of verbal/vocal instructions.
  • Must have the ability to respond and react to visual observation.
