Position Overview:
Manage daily flow of patients to our dental clinic and help keep a multi-provider practice running smoothly and efficiently.
Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions of the Position:
Assist patients
· Check patients in for appointments, verify demographic and insurance information, update registration/medical forms as needed
· Check patients out after appointments, collect copayments, sell products, present treatment plans, explain insurance benefits, discuss payment policies, schedule treatment, schedule next hygiene recall
Handle all types of incoming and outgoing phone calls
· Schedule appointments
· Answer treatment, billing, and insurance questions
· Make outbound calls to patients, vendors, and/or other clinics to coordinate patient care
Schedule all types of appointments
· Routine recall appointments
· Treatment plans
· Emergencies
· New Patients
Maintain patient records/documentation
· Make detailed notes when discussing treatment planning, payment arrangements, patient concerns, etc.
· Process all types of incoming and outgoing correspondence via email, fax, and mail
Skills and Abilities Required:
· Demonstrate excellent interpersonal communication skills between teammates, providers, patients, and affiliates
· Complete tasks efficiently and error free with attention to detail, including phone conversations and in-person interactions
· (Preferred) Knowledgeable in aspects of dentistry, including dental terminology, treatment planning, cost of treatment and insurance benefits, and scheduling and flow of appointments
· Perform daily functions using Desco, Dexis, Outlook, Word, and Excel, as well as copy/fax/printer/scanner equipment
Minimum Education and Experience Required:
· Required: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
· Required: Customer service and dental assisting experience.
· Preferred: At least 1 year of prior dental experience.
Physical Requirements:
· Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and/or reach.
· Push, pull, lift, and/or carry up to 25 pounds.
