Moses Lake Community Health Center is seeking a responsible Patient Financial Services Representative to join the PFS team, while they are going through the Certified Coder Program! The PFS rep will be responsible for reviewing and posting charges and/or payments, reviewing patient accounts and transactions, and corresponding with patients or third-party payors in order to facilitate timely and effective management of accounts receivable activity. In addition, completing educational requirements and obtaining a Certified Coding Certificate after successful completion of the Coding Program.
Responsibilities
- Processes third-party remittance advices. Posts payments and Adjustments to EMR per remittance advice, with verification of the appropriate application of capitated, wraparound, and contractual adjustments. Reconcile totals from remittance advice to totals posted in EMR.
- Reviews outstanding claims within forty-five (45) days or as the process indicates.
- Processes self-pay account activity.
- Responds effectively to patients with account and statement questions via phone or in-person.
- Performs the charge entry function as required by task assignment.
- Requires basic organizational skills, typically to organize own work.
- Job duties require the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Job duties are typically performed in response to workflow or ongoing direction by supervisors or others.
- Employees are able to effectively select from alternatives to situations encountered on the job.
- Employee's focus is primarily on their own work.
- Duties require analysis of information following established methods, not requiring the employee's own opinions.
- Consistently exhibits all of the Moses Lake Community Health Center’s Service Standards with patients and co-workers and contributes to a work environment that is supportive and values the contributions of each individual.
- Ability to prepare basic correspondence and simple reports in Microsoft Word.
- Ability to create, send and manage email in Outlook.
- Ability to use messaging and locate chart information in EMR.
- Ability to use Microsoft Excel to create tables and simple displays of information.
- Fully functional in the use of the EMR program.
- Possesses a basic level of written and verbal communications skills, computational and computer skills, and mathematical knowledge typically acquired through completion of a high school program.
