Form of workNorthwest Specialty Hospital is seeking a detail-oriented, customer service focused, Patient Financial counselor to join our Collections Team!
Under the supervision of the Patient Access Manager/Patient Financial Services Manager, PFC communicates with patients, billing office, collections agency and other related entities on the phone and in-person as needed relating to billing and insurance inquiries. Educate patients about payment options and agreements. Facilitates pre-collections for upcoming procedures by calling patients daily to inform them of the balance and collect payment. Updates and reconciles patient accounts and balances as needed while working closely with billing and coding. Escalate calls as necessary for patient complaints/disputes. Projects a professional demeanor and appearance while maintaining the confidentiality of patients, coworkers, and Northwest Specialty Hospital as appropriate. Works under stress and in situations that demand patience and tact while providing impeccable service.
Qualifications and Preferred Experience:
- Demonstrated eligibility for employment in the United States
- Ability to relate and work effectively with others
- Demonstrated skills in verbal and written English communications for safe and effective use of chemicals, cleaning agents and safety instructions.
- Willingness to participate in goal-setting and educational activities for own growth and advancements.
- Demonstrated verbal communication skills in English.
- Demonstrated computer skills in utilizing word processing, integrated database and other functions.
- Demonstrated ability to utilize and understand mathematical calculations.
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology.
- Prior experience in medical coding and billing of accounts required.
