Job description

Job Summary
Responsible for supporting Revenue Cycle Managers and Team Leads with patient calls, collecting payments, and handling patient encounters. Responsible for reviewing accounts, counseling patients regarding balances, and help manage outstanding patient balances. Possesses ability to communicate with and educate patients regarding their financial responsibility and payment options. Responsible for creating payment arrangements and collecting payments (non-covered services, self-pay, co-pays, deductibles, and/or co-insurance) and recording transactions in the practice management system. Must maintain a comprehensive understanding of the health insurance market, specific plan requirements, and standard payment options. Required to communicate with patients in a way that is perceived as thorough and clear, answer questions about financial concerns, and collaborate with the clinic and central business office as needed.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Confirm and correct patient and insurance demographics.
  • Verify health insurance eligibility and obtain benefit information.
  • Set Up and Maintain Payment Plans.
  • Handle Mail Return
  • Provide a quote of the patient's responsibility in their chart.
  • Communicate effectively with the Revenue Cycle Team
  • Contact patients regarding prepayment due.
  • Accurately notate the actions taken to obtain patient/insurance demographics
  • Assist in medical records requests.
  • Interact with and counsel patients in person and via telephone in a professional manner regarding their insurance plan, payments and other relevant financial issues including any amount due prior to their visit.
  • Possess detailed understanding of insurance company protocols and managed care contracts.
  • Must be knowledgeable in ICD and CPT coding; and stay well-informed of industry changes.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by taking calls from patients, answering questions, problem-solving, and assisting with concerns and complaints in a timely manner
  • Communicate clearly with and accommodate all patients, customers, and insurance companies making a concerted effort to positively resolve insurance matters.
  • Comply with all organizational policies and procedures including punctuality, attendance, and dress code.
  • Exhibit exceptional customer service qualities at all times with patients, customers, team members, staff and insurance companies
  • Ensure confidentiality and maintain the highest regard for patients' records and physicians' information professionally and in compliance with local, state and federal mandates.
