Description
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Care of the Patient
- Completes Patient Care (may include V/S, I&O's, heights, weights, head circumference, ADL's and other Patient Care related assignments) in a safe, efficient and timely manner.
- Documents Patient Care and other assignments according to department guidelines.
- Recognizes and reports changes in patient condition to licensed staff.
- Assists with admission, transfer and discharge as directed by licensed staff.
- Communicates patient/family information to health care team members to assist with individualizing the patient plan of care.
- Practices universal precautions/isolation techniques according to hospital policy.
- Recognizes unsafe and emergency situations and reacts appropriately.
2. Support Services
- Assists with maintaining a clean orderly patient/department environment.
- Acts as a courier between ancillary departments as needed to meet daily unit/department requirements.
- Performs clerical duties as needed. (May include, but is not limited to, clean sheeting charts, stamping flowsheets, making up admission packets, answering the telephone).
3. Professional Performance
- Practices cost effective use of supplies.
- Utilizes available communication tools (staff meetings, bulletin boards) to remain informed.
- Completes 4 hours per year of annual education requirements appropriate for practice area and role responsibilities.
- Consistently demonstrates that new knowledge and skills gained from education are incorporated into actual clinical practice.
- Shares knowledge with nursing staff and other members of the health care team.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Required - High school diploma or general education degree (GED) (If pursuing an RN degree, enrollment in a BSN program is preferred.)
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Required - 1 years total experience required, which includes 1 year of PCT, CNA, or Medical Assistant in a healthcare setting, OR current ACH employee with clinical experience, OR successful completion of 1 semester of healthcare curriculum, OR successful completion of ACH Pulse Center PCT training experience
CERTIFICATION / LICENSE / REGISTRY REQUIREMENTS
- Preferred - Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
SKILL REQUIREMENTS
