PATIENT CARE ASSISTANT

WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Performs delegated Patient Care activities as directed by the RN or medical staff upon completion of documented training, in a manner that is aligned with age specific needs of the patient to ensure safe, accurate and high-quality treatment of patients.
- Documentation of Patient Care.
- Participate in organization, cleaning and safety of unit.
- Maintains unit supplies, prepares patient rooms and medical records, enters charges, and answers the multi-line telephone to assist in the safe and efficient operation of the unit.
- Answers questions about treatment plan within the expected scope or refers questions to RN.
- Make rounds and respond promptly to patient requests.
- Assist in the admission, transfer and discharge of patients as directed.
WHAT IT TAKES TO SUCCEED
- One year of healthcare experience.
- Knowledge of procedures and protocols necessary to provide patient safety.
- Understanding of common medical terminology, anatomy and physiology.
- Flexibility in staffing and adaptability to changes in Patient Care practice.
- High attention to detail with strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Ability to display empathy while multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to demonstrate tact and understanding when dealing with others and responds in a positive manner to constructive criticism.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Qualifications
- Preferred High School Diploma/GED
- 1 year Prior experience in a healthcare related field Preferred
- Basic Life Support Program (BLS) - American Heart Association
