Patient Account Specialist

We are seeking a Patient Account Specialist

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Proactively communicates with patients, insurance companies, and coworkers.
• Ability to multitask
• Operate multi-line telephone system with heavy call volume
• Answer phones in a professional manner and transfer calls or take messages to appropriate party when needed
• Ensures accurate billing and collections of patients and insurance companies
• Generates and completes daily insurance follow up reports
• Follows up on outstanding insurance claims
• Files secondary insurance claims
• Reviews refund list to ensure that all accounts listed have been issued a refund
• Verify accuracy of Patient Accounts before sending statements
• Manage collections procedures
• Provides customer service to patients with billing questions
• General administrative tasks, such as photocopying, scanning, faxing, printing, and sorting/filing/sending forms.
• All other duties as assigned

Requirements:

• At least 5 years of insurance, billing, and collections experience for dental and medical
• Exceptional understanding of the revenue cycle process
• Speak, read, and write fluent English
• Exceptional human relation skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities with interruptions
• Ability to maintain professional demeanor and tactfully resolve conflicts
• Knowledgeable about insurance benefits, collection laws, and regulations
• Compliance with all federal, state, and local regulatory laws
