The Central Business Office (CBO) Team Leader supervises the day-to-day activities in the respective CBO unit as assigned, primarily billing, precertification, eligibility verification, collections, and payment posting unit(s).
DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Coordinates, supervises, and plans the revenue cycle activities with CBO Manager to ensure billing, collections, and appropriate follow-up of accounts receivable, including, but not limited to denials management, is conducted accurately and timely.
- Directly supervises unit work assignments necessary to meet key performance indicators.
- Maintains work schedules and ensures proper coverage for the assigned unit, including PTO requests and employee(s) time and attendance.
- Evaluates the unit process workflows to adhere to established third-party payer regulations and guidelines.
- Closely monitors and evaluates staff performance through direct observation and performance measurement reports.
- Identifies issues with practice management system and collaborates with CBO Manager to address issues impacting Urology San Antonio standard practices and workflows or third-party payer requirements.
- Performs duties to ensure the employee's own safety and that of others using the services and facilities of the department and Practice.
- Motivates staff and maintains a high level of morale among department personnel.
- Measures and achieves objectives for the assigned unit, consistent with the Practice's goals.
- Participates in the recruitment and training of CBO employees with respect to their assignments and role responsibilities.
- Ensures performance evaluations are conducted in a timely manner, that performance evaluations are fair and consistent, and that performance expectations are communicated.
- Assists in problem identification with internal and external departmental coordination of problem resolution.
- Assures Patient Health Information (PHI) is secure at all times and respects the confidentiality of information throughout one's employment.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required
Previous supervisor experience is strongly preferred, along with a minimum of one-year revenue cycle-related experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred
- Associate degree from a two-year college or technical school.
REQUIRED EDUCATION / LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS
- High School diploma or GED.
