Job Overview - Patient Accounts Representative
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Patient Accounts Representative to join our team. As a Patient Accounts Representative, you will be responsible for managing Patient Accounts, ensuring accurate billing and reimbursement, and providing exceptional customer service. This role requires strong knowledge of medical coding, billing procedures, and medical terminology.
Location: Houston, TX
Pay: $18/hr - $22.50/hr
Schedule: Monday through Friday 8 hours shifts
Responsibilities:
- Review and process Patient Accounts for accuracy and completeness
- Verify insurance coverage and obtain necessary authorizations
- Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies
- Follow up on unpaid claims and denials
- Resolve billing discrepancies and answer patient inquiries regarding their accounts
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate coding and documentation
- Stay up-to-date with changes in medical coding guidelines and reimbursement policies
Skills:
- Proficient in medical coding systems such as ICD-9, ICD-10, DRG, and CPT
- Strong knowledge of medical billing procedures and insurance regulations
- Familiarity with medical office software systems
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
