This position serves in a developmental trainee capacity. The incumbent receives extensive on-the-job training in a variety of routine tasks that will provide experience and technical competence in the methods, procedures, principles, theories, and techniques utilized in the performance of various loan and/or grant program functions under the direction of Rural Development (RD) management.
This is NOT a remote position. The incumbent will be expected to report to the office. Qualifications: Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including specialized experience and/or education, as defined below.
For the GS-03 grade level: Applicants must have completed 1 full academic year of post-high school study.
For the GS-04 grade level: Applicants must have completed 2 full academic years of post-high school study or an associate's degree.
At the undergraduate level, successfully completed education that has not led to possession of a degree is credited based on its relationship to 120 semester hours or 180 quarter hours. For example, 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours is comparable to 1 year of undergraduate education.

Conversion: In addition to meeting the pathways requirements for conversion, an applicant converting to a Loan Assistant/Specialist (Commercial), GS-1165-05/07/09/11/12 is required to also meet the OPM Qualification Standards for the GS-1165 series.
Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- finance, business administration, economics, accounting, insurance, engineering, mathematics, banking and credit, law, real estate operations, statistics, or other fields related to the position, such as agriculture, agricultural economics, farm, livestock or ranch management, or rural sociology.
