Patent Prosecution Paralegal
Mueting Raasch Group (MRG) is looking for a highly organized and experienced Patent Prosecution Paralegal to assist our team. In this role, your duties will include filing documents with the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), maintaining a docket relating to U.S., Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT), and foreign patent applications, and serving a lead role in ensuring client needs and processes are met.
To ensure success as a Patent Prosecution Paralegal, you should possess knowledge of U.S. and PCT filing and Patent Prosecution procedures, as well as an understanding of foreign patent processes. To be an outstanding patent paralegal at MRG, you will be a team player whose resourcefulness translates into excellent support to MRG patent attorneys and agents.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborating with the USPTO, attorneys, agents, liaisons, foreign associates, clients, and staff.
- Extracting relevant information from official USPTO, PCT, and foreign patent office databases and related incoming correspondence.
- Generating docket reports, maintaining a personal docket, and ensuring that deadlines are timely met.
- Filing U.S. provisional and non-provisional patent applications and PCT patent applications, preparing and filing information disclosure statements and other USPTO communications, and filing responses to office actions.
- Assisting attorneys and patent agents by resolving discrepancies and identifying errors and omissions.
- Maintaining records and reviewing files.
- Working with all members of the team.
- Performing research on public and private databases.
- A bachelor's degree or associate degree in Paralegal studies.
- State-approved accredited paralegal certification.
- A minimum of four years of experience in Patent Prosecution, required.
- Proficiency in legal terminology and electronic databases.
- Experience in managing records and generating docket reports.
- Extensive knowledge of patent filing requirements.
- Exceptional ability to perform research and keep track of deadlines.
- Ability to collaborate with others and work independently.
- Exceptional recordkeeping and communication skills.
- Exceptional organizational and task prioritization skills.
- Ability to consistently focus on details in all aspects of work to identify and resolve potential problems.
- Proven ability to establish professional working relationships with colleagues and external clients.
- Strong commitment to client service.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Occasional lifting of objects of up to 20 pounds.
