Job Summary
Caterpillar’s Product Support & Logistics Division (PSLD) team has an exciting opportunity for a Parts Distribution Financial Analyst. This position is an integral part of the Caterpillar Product Support & Logistics Division (PSLD) in Morton with responsibility for Global Parts Distribution financial analysis and reporting, period cost analysis, and supporting the Dealer & Customer Services and Work Tools Distribution teams. This role will encourage one to demonstrate and develop communication, presentation, and financial analysis skills.
This Parts Distribution role will provide financial planning and analysis support specific to Period Cost Reporting, overall Financial analysis, and Axiom reporting and analysis. The person in the role will independently perform accounting functions which require preparation, analysis, and communication.
This position will report to the Accounting Manager leading the Parts Distribution Accountable team and the role provides an excellent opportunity to learn more about the Product Support & Logistics Division and its efforts to support Caterpillar’s enterprise strategy.
What You Will Do:
In this role, the incumbent will have the opportunity to support the enterprise strategy to grow services revenue through development of annual business plans, quarterly forecasts, and monthly financial reporting packages supporting the Parts Distribution leadership team. This position also supports financial planning and monthly results analysis for the Dealer & Customer Services and Work Tools Distribution teams within PSLD Parts Distribution.
Possible specific areas of responsibility could include but are not limited to:
- Internal management accounting, including business unit reporting and strategic business support.
- Understanding the functions and processes of the Axiom financial system, PowerBI reporting platforms and Business Planning & Consolidation (BPC).
- Financial accounting including consolidation, analysis and communication of business unit results / variances.
- Estimating various forecast and budget scenarios as needed based on changing business conditions.
- Presentation and explanation of results to management.
What You Have:
- Education/Experience: This position typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, or business-related degree and 4+ years of job-related experience.
- Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
- Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
- Managing Multiple Priorities: Knowledge of effective self-management practices; ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation.
- Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
