Job Description

Join the nation’s most compassionate network of veterinary practices.

Associated Veterinary Partners (AVP) is seeking a Part-Time Groomer for Oakland Park Animal Hospital located in beautiful Oakland Park, FL.

Who is the MVP at AVP? YOU ARE!

This MVP plays a key role in the hospital's success.?While this position does not have any clinical duties, the Groomer will work together with Veterinarians, Veterinary Technicians, Hospital Managers, and Kennel teams. As a Groomer, you’ll have the opportunity to build personal relationships with your clients each time they visit and truly become a part of their family. You’ll get to know their pets’ styles and personalities to create a customized, stylish experience just for them! From that first shampoo to that final strut home, you’ll take pride in the services you provide!

At least one year of practicing in a small-animal clinic as a groomer is preferred.

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who possesses knowledge of animal health care, and animal restraint techniques, in addition to being detail-oriented and having excellent communication and multi-tasking skills.

  • Grooming skills: The ability to groom different breeds of dogs according to their hair types, customer specifications, and breed-specific cuts.

  • Interpersonal skills: The ability to work well with others, such as dog owners, bathers, and co-workers.

  • Analytical skills: The ability to assess the behavior and condition of each dog

  • Physical and mental stamina: The ability to groom large, overly excited, or frightened dogs without getting hurt or injuring the animals

  • Familiarity with animal behavior: The ability to determine an animal's behavior and use techniques, such as a treat, to keep them calm and safe

  • Health knowledge: The ability to recognize common illnesses, such as skin disorders, watery eyes, and nose, possibly due to allergies, or a sprain

A commitment to your own career growth is a must for this position, as we are looking for someone who wants to grow with the practice.

It’s the pride of giving a local pup his first bath and groom.

It’s the excitement of Rocco’s wagging tail during his bath or Bessy’s smile after her teeth are cleaned.

It’s the little things we do that add up to really big things that pets need.

AVP values the MVP.

Your career development is a priority, and we provide tuition reimbursement along with mentoring and continuing education. We have an inclusive mindset that promotes teamwork and collaboration with upward mobility.

AVP believes that when a team member is successful, our practices are successful.

Our compensation is very competitive.

AVP’s goal is to provide a fulfilling work environment that will attract, mentor, and retain the most diverse workforce to serve our partnerships. In doing will seek veterinarians who strive to constantly learn and perfect their capabilities both professionally and personally while valuing and respecting all team members.

Why become an MVP with AVP?

AVP is a vet-founded and vet-operated practice group that wants to make it easier for veterinarians and their teams to practice gold-standard medicine with full clinical autonomy.

We enable veterinarians and their teams to focus on caring for their patients while also caring for themselves. Therefore, we are a proud sponsor of Not One More Vet (NOMV), putting wellness first.

AVP has chosen not to be "private equity" backed, and it shows. We believe that veterinary healthcare workers deserve personally, professionally, and financially rewarding careers, and we are committed to being the employer of choice in veterinary medicine.

We value good medicine over profits, knowing that if we practice good medicine and client communication, our clinics will thrive.

Providing a great work environment and a healthy work-life balance is a top priority.
