For nearly 25 years, we have provided on-site instructional services within the hospital setting, helping students to continue their academic progress during treatment and successfully reenter the classroom. LearnWell is currently looking for our next creative and passionate teacher to fill a our part-time year round teaching position in St. Louis, MO. The certified teacher will work in a unique fast-paced behavioral health facility center; which involves working with adolescent students in a small classroom setting and supporting them academically with common core subjects while they are receiving treatment for an eating disorder diagnosis.
Essential functions of the job may include but are not limited to the following:
- Plan, prepare and deliver daily lesson plans and instructional material for an average of 8-10 students, with a maximum amount of 12; in a small group setting
- Help students one-on-one if extra assistance is needed on their individual school curriculum.
- Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction
- Communicate necessary information regularly to students, hospital and parents regarding student progress and student needs
- Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies
- Updating daily attendance and creating daily session reports for each student
Position entails a 20-hour a week commitment, Monday-Friday, 8:00am-12:00pm. The four-hour day consists of two hours of class time, and two hours of administrative time. Qualifications:
- B.A/B.S degree from an accredited institution
- State Teaching Certification
- Comfortable working with adolescents and accompanying academic levels
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others
- Strong organizational skills
- Understanding of subject matter relevant to students need
