Position Summary
The Teacher-Aide (Library) is responsible to the librarian. Administrative supervision is the responsibility of the building principal or designee.
Essential Duties Summary
1. Receives and checks out library books.
2. Locates and utilizes reference materials as requested by the students and teachers.
3. Oversees small groups of students as assigned to research work in the library under the direction of the librarian. (Secondary)
4. Assists with set-up of various technology devices as requested by the teachers and/or the librarian.
5. Utilizes the on-line library catalog, which includes running reports, updating or adding title information, generating overdue notices for patrons, etc.
6. Processes book transactions to include but not limited to: check-in order, school stamp, spine, label, cover books, acquisition information, etc.
7. Maintains organization and inventory of the book room’s leveled materials. (Elementary)
8. Re-shelves library materials and maintains correct shelf order.
9. Completes clerical duties, such as making copies, writing overdue notices, etc., to support the operation of the library.
10. Completes other phases of library teacher-aide work that may be assigned by the librarian or the building principal.
11. Updates the library’s holdings in the database. Also fulfills incoming requests and submit requests for materials via ILL (Inter library loan) through the database under the guidance of the librarian.
