Job Description
Summary
The Children's School is in search of an Assistant Teacher to join our team for the 2024 Summer Camp Season, spanning from July 8th to August 16th, 2024. Our program operates half-day sessions and we are looking for candidates who may be interested in either a 3 or 5 day commitment, from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm.
The applicant should possess the ability to establish a nurturing, imaginative atmosphere for children to engage in, be comfortable spending the majority of their morning outside, work alongside the lead teacher to develop and execute lesson plans, and communicate with families effectively.
Duties
- Assists with daily set-up and clean-up and routine maintenance of the school
- Helps create smooth and pleasant transitions between activities.

- Arrives in the classroom on time and is ready to begin day at scheduled time.
- Assures the safety of all class participants at all times.
- Demonstrates an enthusiastic attitude that imports a positive feeling towards others.
- Demonstrates warmth and respect when interacting with children.
- Accepts duties that are reasonable to expect under the parameters of the job which arise as a normal course of events.
Requirements
7.3.2.3 Teacher Assistant
A teacher assistant is at least eighteen (18) years of age, is a high school graduate or has completed a GED, and meets one (1) of the following qualifications:
• At least a Vermont Early Childhood Career Ladder Level One (1) or Two (2) Certificate; or
• At least a current CDA (Child Development Associate) and at least twelve (12) months experience working with groups of children from grade three (3) or younger; or
• At least a State Board of Education approved Human Services Program Certificate that emphasizes child development or early childhood education and at least twelve (12) months experience working with groups of children from grade three (3) or younger; or 98
• At least successful completion of the Fundamentals for Early Childhood Professionals’ course or the Vermont Afterschool Essentials Certificate and at least twelve (12) months experience working with groups of children from grade three (3) or younger; or
• At least successful completion of a three (3) college credit course in child or human development or a three (3) college credit course for school-age care and education and at least twelve (12) months experience working with groups of children from grade three (3) or younger
Applicant must be CPR/First Aid Certified or able to complete certification prior to their start date.
