I. Objective:
The purpose of this position is to participate in the teaching and care of students at Fundamentals. Success in this position results in the efficient and effective provision of programming to students and compliance with state, federal and accrediting standards.
II Knowledge and Skills:

III. Specific Responsibilities and Duties:
- Monitor activities of individuals to ensure safety or compliance with rules.
- Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests.
- Clean tools or equipment.
- Provide for basic needs of children.
- Monitor health or behavior of people and children
- Support implementation of educational curriculum and daily lesson plans
· Present information to the public.
· Follow and maintain daily operational compliance with regulations, procedures, and standards.
· Instruct and assist children in the development of health and personal habits, such as eating, resting, and toilet behavior.
· Teach and perform age-appropriate activities, such as lap play, reading, and arts and crafts, to encourage intellectual development of children.
· Model appropriate social behaviors and encourage concern for others to cultivate development of interpersonal relationships and communication skills.
· Keep records of play, meal schedules, and daily routines.
· Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops to maintain and improve professional competence.
· Attend staff meetings as required.
· Perform other job-related duties as assigned

IV. Guidelines:
Guidelines include New Mexico Child Care Licensing Regulations, National Association for the Education of Young Children Accreditation Standard and Criteria, FOCUS Criteria, staff and parent handbooks, and program policies and procedures.
V. Physical Demands
The work is typically performed while intermittently sitting, standing, stooping, walking, bending, or crouching. The employee frequently lifts light and occasionally heavy objects and children.
The work is typically performed in a classroom and outdoors, in cold or inclement weather. The employee may be exposed to contagious or infectious diseases. Work requires the use of protective devices such as gloves, etc.
VI. Educational Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position
A criminal background check is required. The employee must be in a state of physical and emotional health suitable for participation in an early education program.
CPR and First Aid certification must be achieved within 90 days of employment, and maintained throughout employment
Obtain and maintain continuing education credit hours of early childhood competencies annually.
Preferred Qualifications:
Six hours or more of higher ed course work in early childhood education or related fields, such as child development, psychology, sociology, or education or 5 years’ experience in an Early Childhood Education Program.
Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/ internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $13.50 - $15.00 per hour
Expected hours: 8 – 20 per week
