RESPONSIBILITIES:
Typical duties performed are:
- Monitoring and inspection of buildings on weekends and holidays
- Shorter inspections on warmer days;
- More detailed inspections on colder days;
- On short inspections (warmer days) you will open and walk all hallways and large spaces library, auditorium, cafeteria, Fieldhouse and other large rooms depending on the building. look into classrooms;
- On more detailed walk-through (Cold days below 15°) you will open the building and walk through all large spaces as stated above. But with the detailed walk-through you will open our classroom doors and walk through each classroom.
- With both walk-throughs you will be using all your senses to see, feel, smell and your hearing to detect any problems that may exist in our schools are non-occupied days.
- Performs related maintenance work and other duties as required

This series includes positions that provide, supervise, or administer the custodial staff and minor maintenance functions for schools and other municipal public buildings and their appurtenances (grounds, walks, lawns, and shrubbery). Primary duties are cleaning, housekeeping, and operation and maintenance of low-pressure heating, lighting, and ventilating systems. Maintenance duties are semiskilled and do not require journeyman trade or craft knowledge. Also included are positions that are responsible for maintaining order and safeguarding occupants in addition to the custodial and housekeeping duties when the latter are primary.
The aforementioned job title is authorized for use in the Building Maintenance Series. The title definitions include illustrative duties and are not all-inclusive.
Terms of Employment/Salary/Work Year:
As negotiated by the Fitchburg School Committee and the Fitchburg Education Association (FEA).
Work Schedule: Saturdays, Sundays, and all School Holidays.
An offer of employment is contingent upon the successful completion of NCBC (fingerprinting) and CORI prior to your start of employment.
