Part-Time Occupational Therapist, Gainesville, Fl

Calling on Occupational Therapists based in Gainesville, FL, who love working with kids, and are looking for more opportunities to work in an education setting. Soliant has partnered with a small school district just outside Alachua, and is seeking applicants for a part-time, FMLA coverage assignment.
Details of the assignment:

• 3 days a week: candidates need to work during school hours (8 AM to 3:30 PM), but have flexibility with which days they work
• Coverage for Fall semester in the next school year

Requirements:

• Florida Occupational Therapist license
• Prior experience with pediatrics preferred

As a school based OT, the applicant will:

• Evaluate current students on caseload, as well as new referrals, by reviewing their medical history, interviewing them, and observing them perform various tasks
• Periodically assessstudent progress toward goals as defined in their Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
• Proposeappropriate goals for new referrals, and recommend OT services in support of those goals
• Where needed, propose adjustments to student IEPs
• Help students fine-tune, orrelearndaily living tasks
• Demonstrate exercises or recommending activities at home to help children needing support with physical disabilities, or needing help with gross and fine motor skill development, or sensory or emotional regulation
• Evaluate school environment to identify potential accessibility improvements
• Educate a student's family about how to accommodate and care for them
• Recommend special equipment, such as mobility aids and eating aids, and instruct clients and families on how to use it
• Assess and record studentactivities and progress for the purposes ofevaluations or billing
