Our company is looking for an experienced Mortgage Loan Originator to join our broker team. The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of the Mortgage Loan process, including loan origination, underwriting, processing, and closing. They will also be able to effectively communicate with clients and partners to ensure that all parties are informed throughout the process. The successful candidate will have excellent customer service skills and a strong attention to detail.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with borrowers, title companies, or insurance companies to gather and prepare all documents needed to satisfy underwriting requirements
- Counsel borrowers to understand the pros and cons of different loan products to determine which is best for them.
- Interface with realtors, processors, and underwriters to ensure a smooth transaction while overseeing all customer interactions
- Take applications, request supporting documents to pre-qualify new clients
- Negotiate loan terms with borrowers (lock loans under conditions acceptable to borrowers).
- Register and Disclose: Upon ratification of purchase contracts, register the loan with our wholesale lenders and issue the initial disclosures.
- Oversight: Our processing team takes over to take the loans to the finish line. You keep an oversight to ensure loans are on track to meet closing deadlines.
Qualifications:
- Must have 3+ years of originator experience.
- Understand and adhere to federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to mortgage lending.
- Knowledge of mortgage guidelines and ability to look up guidelines quickly and efficiently
- Assist borrowers in completing loan applications.
- Ability to read LEs/CDs to make sure title company is receiving correct documents and figures for closing.
- Ensure all phases of the loan process are performed in accordance with regulatory and company guidelines
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, superb interpersonal and customer service skills, and exceptional decision-making ability
- Office Suite knowledge and loan-originating software such as Arive are preferred.
- Must be licensed or willing to get NMLS mortgage license in Alaska
- Be phenomenal at problem solving and ownership of your job
This is a part time (hourly + bonuses) & remote position. We provide the leads, just need help taking loan applications, requesting documents, prequalifying the borrowers, sending estimates, sending prequalfiication letters, and registering the loan once there’s a contract.
You may originate your own leads as well at a different compensation package. We are only licensed in Alaska but if being licensed in another state is important to you, we can discuss getting the company licensed in another state.
