Salary Range: $40 - $40 per hour
Program Description:
The Education Center provides adult education services to the Brooklyn community. We serve 500 students yearly with GED preparation classes, ESL classes, and vocational training. In addition, the Education Center operates a Family Welcome Center (FWC) in which we provide case management & wrap-around services, workforce development programming, and regular community workshops & events. Many of our clients speak Spanish, Arabic, or Mandarin as their first language.
Position Description:
The Math Teacher, Adult Basic Education teaches math to adult students who are studying for the GED exam.
Responsibilities:
- Facilitate classes in reading & writing and math
- Curriculum and lesson design
- Administer pre-tests and post-tests using TABE
- Coordinate with case managers
- Maintain attendance records
- Attend professional development training and seek opportunities to further develop a teaching practice
- Other duties as assigned

Qualifications Required:
- Bachelors in education or a related field
- Two years teaching experience (preferably in an adult literacy program)
- Language skills in Spanish, Arabic, and/or Chinese are preferred
