Position Description
Primary Purpose and Essential Functions
The University of the Pacific School of Engineering and Computer Science invites applications for an adjunct (part time) faculty member with a strong foundation and experience in surveying or geomatics and interest in teaching undergraduate students.
The primary responsibility of this position is to teach a lower division, introductory course and laboratory sections in geomatics which includes in depth coverage of surveying principles as well as other related topics. This non-tenure track position will be available beginning Spring 2024.
This is a non-tenure track position with responsibility for teaching 1 course per semester with no expectations for research, scholarship, or advising.This position is located at Pacific's Stockton campus. Applications received by December 13th will be given priority consideration.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree inCivil Engineering or related field
  • Land Surveyor in Training Certification, or Engineer in Training Certification with experience in geomatics or surveying
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interest and demonstrable potential for teaching Civil Engineering courses.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Licensed Professional Land Surveyor or Professional Licensure in Civil Engineering
  • Professional experience in the field of surveying with a strong understanding of surveying, methodologies, equipment and software
  • Experience in professional practice and/or teaching at the undergraduate or graduate levels
  • Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
  • Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.

Requires extended periods of sitting and repetitive hand/wrist motion while using computer keyboard and phone. Occasional standing, walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, and reaching. Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
Work Environment/Work Week/Travel: Monday through Friday, hours to be determined by department upon hire.
Hiring Range
$9,000-$12,000 (3,000 per unit). We consider factors such as, but not limited to, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's qualifications, internal equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
