Language Educators Needed for St. John’s English Language Institute
The English Language Institute of St. John’s University is currently recruiting dynamic English Language Educators for a 4-week special program during late May through early June. The class will run 3.5 hours/day, four days/week. The course will increase the French students’ business English proficiency specifically focusing on intercultural competence within written and oral communication. The Language Educator will join a team of experienced and innovative instructors who prepare and implement interactive lessons aligned to the course curriculum.
The classes will take place at the Manhattan campus of St. John’s University at 101 Astor Place.

Qualifications
M.A. or M.S. in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or a closely related field
2 years' experience teaching academic English to adults or in K-12 settings
Experience teaching Business English – specifically written and oral communication
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Experience using teaching and learning technology (for example Canvas, Google Suite, etc.)
Experience working in business or marketing, specifically for fashion, retail, or luxury markets NOT required but HIGHLY preferred
Experience teaching Business Communications or Marketing at the university level NOT required but HIGHLY preferred
Responsibilities
The part-time staff instructor will:
Foster an inclusive classroom that welcomes all identities and meets the students where they are at which is in keeping with the university’s Equity and Inclusion policies
Plan and facilitate lessons aligned with CEFR level and curriculum for the course
Develop or adapt various materials that implement interactive language learning techniques and technology
Use communicative language teaching techniques to foster a dynamic and practical lessons
Assess student language progress against curriculum objectives
Promptly submit required administrative documents by given deadlines, including attendance, course syllabi, and final grades
This position may be relocated to any of St. John’s University’s physical locations at any time.
