I. Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of Graduate & Professional Admissions and External Partnerships, the Part Time GPS
Admissions Counselor serves as a recruiter and contact for GPS programs. This includes, but is not limited to:
recruiting, generating inquiries, follow-up communication with inquiries/ applicants, and conducting
information meetings and assigned events. In order to accomplish the university enrollment goals, this
individual must be willing to work with a recruitment schedule that fits the needs of a non-traditional applicant
pool with some evenings and weekend hours.
II. Essential Duties, Tasks and Responsibilities
1. Recruit and encourage prospective students to apply for GPS programs growing enrollment at Malone
through direct communications.
2. Follow-up with inquiries through phone calls, emails, texting, mailings, invitation to events and information
meetings, business fairs, classroom visits and other methods of relationship building.
3. Care for prospective students with a customer service oriented approach to their admission needs.
4. Coordinate the enrollment process of the student from inquiry to start of class by working with institutional
partners such as Financial Aid, the Registrar, Information Technologies, and the Business Office.
5. Participate in the development and execution of a comprehensive recruitment plan for graduate and nontraditional
programs.
6. Collaborate with admissions leadership and program directors to develop and execute initiatives that promote
growth in the number, quality, and diversity of the graduate and non-traditional student body.
7. Coordinate, schedule, travel to, and represent GPS programs at events such as college fairs, business fairs,
and school/community expos. As a Part Time recruiter, this will predominately be local travel.
8. Represent GPS programs through internal recruitment efforts, such as presentations to the current GPS
student population as well as the traditional undergraduate student population.
9. Make contacts with various influencing groups and individuals related to the field to promote GPS programs.
10. Conduct initial, unofficial transcript evaluations and pre-enrollment advising for GPS programs.
11. At the direction of the Director of Graduate & Professional Admissions and External Partnerships, maintain
and enhance the Admissions Module (Jenzabar) and JRM to accurately document and track candidate records
from the inquiry stage to start of class.
12. Assist in production of status reports of inquiries, applications, acceptances, and related data as part of regular
activity reports.
13. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Graduate & Professional Admissions and External Partnerships.

VI. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Must exhibit a personal understanding of, and operate in concert with, the Foundational Principals of the University and
the Malone Mission statement to “to provide students with an education based on biblical faith in order to develop men
and women in intellectual maturity, wisdom, and Christian faith who are committed to serving the Church, community,
and world.” This includes a direct commitment to enhancing the Malone student-centered culture. A Bachelor’s degree
is required in an applicable field. One to two years of relevant work experience, with student involvement in higher
education, recruitment, or direct sales is desired.
Excellent and proven organizational, written and oral communication skills are essential. Experience in technology such
as databases, CRMS, project management software, and the Microsoft/Google suite is a plus. Looking for a self-starter
with an outgoing and persuasive personality. Must have the ability to plan and implement short-term and long-term
marketing and recruiting initiatives. Effective research skills, creativity, and flexibility required. Must have ability to
work well under pressure, manage deadlines, and possess the ability to work effectively with both on-campus and offcampus
constituencies.
Hours per week are anticipated to be 20, but may vary based on the needs and fluctuations of the position. Evening and
weekend commitments will occasionally be necessary. Proven time management skills, the ability to prioritize and record
keeping abilities are essential. Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality of sensitive materials is also essential.
Current valid driver’s license, transportation and availability for travel is required.
