Statement of Job:

The University of Maine at Augusta's Nursing Program is inviting applications for Part-Time Faculty to teach clinicals in our nursing program. UMA has a holistic BSN program that has Academic Holistic Nurses Certification Corporation (AHNCC) endorsement and started admitting students to the prelicensure option concept-based curriculum which emphasizes caring science in Fall 2019. We seek candidates who demonstrate expertise in evidence-based best practices in teaching nursing, a passion for nursing and teaching, a commitment to supporting diversity and student success, and a desire to join and collaborate with program faculty to implement these practices.
Responsibilities include teaching clinical courses in the BSN prelicensure and RN to BSN program options in both traditional and non-traditional clinical formats. Review of applications is ongoing. Please note that general part-time faculty postings are to establish applicant pools. We anticipate a need for instructors for the Fall and Spring semesters of 2023-2024; however, positions may or may not be immediately available.
Our teaching facilities include a state-of-the-art simulation center on the Augusta campus and access to high-fidelity simulation at all distance sites. Salary: The salary for part-time faculty is per credit hour and is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Qualifications:


Required Qualifications:
 

  • Current unencumbered licensure as an RN in the State of Maine, or eligibility for Maine licensure
  • Associate Degree or Diploma in Nursing
  • A minimum of two years of clinical experience
  • Clinical practice within the past five years in an area of expertise
  • The ability to engage students in critical thinking in laboratory and clinical settings

Note: If an applicant does not hold a BSN, appointment is dependent upon the Board of Nursing waiver approval.


Preferred Qualifications:
 

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Nursing
  • Three or more years of teaching at the college level
  • National certification as an Advanced Holistic Nurse (AHNCC)
  • Teaching experience within a concept-based curriculum with an emphasis on caring science
  • Experience in teaching in simulation
