Job Description
The Tepper Semester Program in New York City under the Department of Drama within the College of Visual and Performing Arts, seeks a Part-Time Instructor to teach Private Applied Voice Lessons beginning Spring semester, 2024.
Part-time instructor is needed to teach private lessons and coaching for musical theater majors completing their senior year of their BFA program. Advanced students will understand and apply principles of healthy singing to jazz, pop, rock, and Broadway styles of the 20th and 21st centuries through vocal coaching.

Qualifications
  • MM or MFA preferred
  • Outstanding keyboard and arranging skills.
  • Demonstrable experience teaching contemporary commercial music.
  • Knowledge of musical theater repertoire.
  • Must be able to sightread and transpose.
  • Must live in/around New York City as the Tepper Program is based in NYC

Private Vocal Coaching meets in person. Extensive professional and/or teaching experience may be considered in lieu of advanced degree. Performance background in Musical Theater, Musical Theater Writing, Piano, or Accompanying
Job Specific Qualifications
Expertise in playing piano and sightreading.
Responsibilities
Meet with students individually once a week for 30-45 minutes per private session. Vocal coach will work with students on songs brought in by the students. Vocal coach can also guide students toward material they find useful.
Job specific responsibilities: Plan meetings with students and keep to a set schedule; provide grades at the end of the term; attend faculty meetings and other Tepper events.
In addition:
  • Develop and/or update a class syllabus.
  • Maintain regularly scheduled office hours.
  • Present instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the course.
  • Meet all designated class periods.
  • Submit completed mid-semester progress reports and final grades according to University regulations.
  • Grade student assignments and exams in timely manner.
  • Provide departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations.
  • Build a positive rapport with students and other faculty.
