Form of workWediko NY is seeking a Fitness Instructor to join our Evening (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday) and Saturday community program located in the Soundview section of The Bronx. The position pays $25 - $35 per hour and would run from Fall 2023 through Spring 2024.
The Fitness Instructor will facilitate the following:
- Yoga
- Zumba
- HIIT
- Core & Cardio
- Mat Pilates
- Develops positive relationships with class participants by teaching a variety of challenging and entertaining group fitness classes
- Educates class participants on correct form and alternative moves during the fitness routine
- Attentively listens to members, answer questions, and engage in conversation before and after classes
- Cleans and organizes studio space after each Group Fitness class
- Provides current music for each class that entertains and motivates while ensuring appropriate language
- Participate in ALL staff trainings and activities, including regular check-ins with supervisors
- Complete 15 hours of School Aged Child Care (SACC) License Training
- Complete all School Aged Child Care (SACC) paperwork prior to commencement of the job
- Provide all documentation for NYSED/DOH compliance purposes are prescribed by the Site Manager
- Provide lesson plans for all activities in a time and frequency prescribed by the Site Manager and/or Program Coordinator
Minimum Job Requirements
- At least 18 years old with at least one year of college or post high school experience
- 1 or more years of Fitness Instructor work experience
- CPR/AED Certification
- One of the following Group Exercise Certifications preferred: National Association of Sports Medicine (NASM), American Council of Exercise (ACE), American Fitness Aerobic Association (AFAA), Aquatic Exercise Association (AEA)
- Ability to perform an aerobic activity for duration of a class, which may include, but not limited to, standing, walking, climbing, balancing, running, crawling, and kneeling
- Ability to routinely lift 50 pounds and occasionally 100 pounds
- CPR/First Aid Certification preferred
- Bilingual Spanish preferred
- Program Dates: November 2023 through May 2024
- Work schedule: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 6:00pm to 8:30pm and Saturdays 9am to 1pm in accordance with the NYC DOE calendar. The Home does not operate when schools are closed or on early dismissal days. Mandatory training sessions and meetings will be held each month outside of regular program times
