At Hamilton County, we serve the public in more ways than you realize!In this role you will be responsible for receiving incoming routine and Emergency Calls, maintaining contact with the police, fire and other safety personnel in potentially high stress situations. This work requires tact, firmness, and decisiveness in obtaining information from members of the public who are under stress.
- Receives and screens incoming calls for service; collects information from the public to share with internal and external safety personnel; analyzes nature of call and makes decision regarding appropriate response; adheres to prompts and protocols to facilitate resolution of caller issue.
- Coordinates on-site activities of safety forces to ensure efficient and effective resolution of emergency situations; provides communications for support services such as Disaster Services, Hospital notification, wrecker, utilities and maintenance personnel; monitors alarm panels; identifies and reacts with urgency to emergency situations, unit status (e.g., available, en route, at scene, etc.).
- Operates computer terminals in order to share and document critical information to the appropriate Public Safety Agencies, and to maintain location and status of Public Safety Units in the field.
- Operates teletype and computer terminals to enter and retrieve information from police systems; sends and receives information, verifies records of stolen property, wanted persons and other criminal data; maintains confidentiality of all data.
- We pay for your RCIC, NCIC, LEADS, CPR, APCO BASIC and EMD certifications. Must be maintained through employment.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Communicate effectively, demonstrate excellent hearing and diction and a demonstrable skill in typing
- The Ideal candidate will have experience in emergency communications and/or ability handle fast paced stressful situations.
- The Ideal candidate will also have regular availability on evenings, weekend, overnight, and/or holidays
